North Carolina

We recently returned from North Carolina. We started our trip flying to a wedding at Davidson College by Lake Norman, close to Charlotte. In Charlotte downtown we visited a number of great museums, including the Gantt Center for African-American Arts. Charlotte reminded me quite a bit of Buffalo, NY due to its similar size and city-run street activities.
From Charlotte we took the train to Raleigh. Raleigh was one of my favorite cities ever, as it is very calm but incredibly vibrant. There are beautiful public spaces and trails surrounding the city. While in Raleigh we enjoyed visiting the North Carolina Museum of Art park. There we went to a concert by Jacob Collier, an inspiring remarkable young musician that defies genre classification.
The North Carolina arboretum was also lovely. We missed the Corpse flower bloom just by a few days.
Something else to love about Raliegh was the food halls and vibrant spaces!
And the Art Deco!
We also enjoyed a few days in Durham, visiting the Duke gardens.
And watching a Durham Bulls vs. Charlotte Knights minor league game.
Overall it was a lovely trip and I look forward to spending more time in North Carolina in the future.
